Burgos, 25th March 2015.- Cerámicas Gala celebrates during all this year 2015 its 50th anniversary with the opening of a commemorative exhibition in its premises at the Gamonal Industrial Estate. With the title “1965-2015. 50 years close to you”, the exhibition shows the more important milestones of the first fifty years of existence of the company, which was founded on the 1st April 1965 with the initial corporate name Cerámicas Scala Española, SA and a majority of Italian shareholders.

The exhibition, integrated in the showroom of the factory, has been inaugurated by the managing director of Cerámicas Gala, Miquel Crisol; his predecessor, Miguel Ángel López Santa Olalla and the mayor of Burgos, Javier Lacalle. The presidents of the Chamber of Commerce and the FAE, a representation of the business community in Burgos, and employees of the company were also present. They have all toured the premises, filled with history, of the company, now the second brand of the sector, integrated in a multinational company and present in 50 countries in five continents.

Gala remembers in this exhibition all the vicissitudes of its founding, the successive expansions in search of more ambitious objectives, and also its endeavour to defend its factory in Burgos in difficult times.

The company, which became established in Burgos by means of the administrative and economic advantages offered by the Industrial Promotion Estate, was one of the first to settle in the industrial estate and one of the leading companies in the Estate based on its level of investments and the creation of jobs.

Initially devoted to the manufacturing of bathroom vitreous china and concentrating all its productive activity on a single kiln in 1965, today Cerámicas Gala has five kilns that have quadrupled its initial productive capacity, being now able to manufacture one and a half million pieces per year.  

Nowadays the company, with a highly diversified business line, concentrates the production and commercialisation of sanitary ware, tap fittings, furniture, accessories, shower trays, enclosures, baths, columns and hydromassage cabins in Burgos, making it a complete supplier of bathroom products that offers as well floor and wall tiles for kitchens, living rooms and exterior spaces.

Cerámicas Gala concentrates in its premises in Burgos its production, commercial, marketing and R+D activities, with a philosophy based on a continuous improvement of quality, as well as a high level of design and innovation, as major weapons of competitiveness in the market.
