Bathroom Cleaning: The Best Tricks to Keep It Always Spotless

Cleaning the bathroom is one of the essential tasks in everyday household life, but we don’t always get it right when it comes to choosing the right products. In this article, we’ll go over the best tips to ensure optimal hygiene in the bathroom without compromising the durability of your equipment.

Water and soap: the cheapest and most effective solution

Sometimes we go overboard trying to find the best products to clean the bathroom, but many commercially available options are actually abrasive to bathroom fixtures and can cause damage over time. As bathroom equipment manufacturers with over sixty years of experience, at Gala we always recommend the cheapest, simplest, and most effective cleaning solution: a soft cloth with water and soap. This method yields excellent results when cleaning the toilet seat, sanitary porcelain (sink, bidet, bathtub…), furniture, and faucets.

A dry cloth: the expert trick

The soapy water solution, as we’ve mentioned, is infallible for bathroom cleaning—but when it comes to faucets, there’s an important extra step. For perfect results, you should always wipe them down afterward with a dry microfiber cloth (or any lint-free cloth). This avoids dried water droplets that look like dirt and also helps prevent limescale buildup.

The shower screen: what you need to know

One of the most challenging elements to clean in the bathroom is the shower screen. That’s why it’s a great idea to have a model like Gala’s Klevan, which features sliding doors with an easy-to-remove system for cleaning. The glass also includes an Easy-Clean anti-limescale treatment, which makes cleaning much easier. Like with faucets, we recommend taking two minutes to wipe it down with a dry cloth after each use. This removes water and limescale residues and keeps it looking spotless.

The toilet: how to sanitize it properly

When it comes to delicate cleaning, the toilet is undoubtedly the most demanding. Due to its use, it’s the most exposed to dirt and bacteria, so it requires thorough cleaning to ensure proper hygiene. Using a fine-bristle brush or sponge and a liquid disinfectant detergent will leave the toilet perfectly clean. For stubborn dirt inside the bowl, you can use abrasive cleaners and a toilet brush, but never use the metallic part of a scouring pad or scrapers, as they can damage the porcelain surface.

However, special care must be taken with the toilet seat and lid. Due to their materials, these parts require gentler handling than the bowl. Bleach, ammonia, acetates, and bioalcohol-based products—although suitable for the inside of the toilet—should not be used on the seat. Instead, simply use a cloth with water and soap to keep it in perfect condition.

Lastly, every three months it’s a good idea to carry out a deep clean of the bathroom, including cleaning the toilet tank to eliminate any potential odors and ensure optimal hygiene.
